Hi. I’m Alyssa, and here’s what drives me.

As an aspiring Pediatric Gastroenterologist with a foundation in clinical medicine and a growing focus on translational research, I am committed to exploring AI-driven solutions that improve outcomes, personalize therapies, and close health equity gaps for children and their families. My current research initiatives reflect this vision.

I firmly believe that healthcare should empower patients and families, equipping them with the knowledge and tools to become their own best advocates. Patient education and improving access are simple yet profound ways we can foster long-term health and success. In particular, I am passionate about addressing childhood obesity through preventative strategies and nutritional guidance, recognizing that early interventions can set the stage for lifelong health.

As I continue my journey through academic medicine, I aim to work alongside like-minded individuals who are equally passionate about shaping the future of pediatric care.

"I’m ready to move back to the city where it all began, carrying with me the lessons, gratitude, and perspectives that have shaped both my life and my calling to medicine."

Many say residency is one of the most challenging times in your life. In an effort to ensure that I take care of myself, I’ve started paying closer attention to my diet. I’ve always been fascinated by how our food choices influence our body. In this book, Dr. Naidoo unpacks how what we eat affects our mood, memory, and overall mental health. It’s an engaging mix of science and real-world insight that reminded me how powerful nutrition can be for both body and mind.
